Well those 9 months went very fast and here we are its all over now.  :)  I have a beautrful baby girl and I couldn't be prouder!  She was born on Tuesday and now that its over you will see a few changes coming to MudDomain!  More to come...

Wow what should have been a few hours of downtime turned into over a week.  Guess thats what happens when you plane major site updates in the middle of flu season. We are now running the newest version of elgg (the software powerin this site) which gives us added stability, features,and alot of bug fxes.  With the upgrade i'm sure some of my custom additions have been broken.  I've not found any errors yet if you do let me know.  I will be turning on some of the new features such as bookmarks over the next few days.

Wow... been awhile since I posted here.  Who would have known that buying a house and the needed to learn how to fix things around the house would take up so much time :) and put on top of that it being Christmas which is happens to coincide with the busy season where I work (thank God its not retail though :) ) and there you go no time to update this site or other similar sites I run.  But, there is good news! Elgg, the open source project that this site is based on has just released another package and this being the package I was waiting on before I rolled the updates to the site.  I'm hoping to update the site on Tuesday at that time I will take the site out of beta mode and all users to sign up with out the need for an invite.  Unless you guys prefer it this way and like the more closed community?  If that is the case I will rework the invite system, but we will see.

Finally,  I'm done moving and am begining to get settled in my new house.  After a few days of no Internet I'm back online and ready to push out some site updates.  Expect to see them with in the week.  I'm sure you'll be happy with some of the changes, bugfixes, new features, and cosmetic changes to come in this release.

 

Sorry for the recent lack of updates to the site.  I had to freeze the site as a new version of the software was being released and I didn't want to continue to make changes that would make an upgrade more difficult.  I will be updating the site very soon to a new stable release once I have all of our enhancements added back in so be watching for that.  Other than that not much going on our site stats continue to grow with more people visting the site each day.  Continue to invite you friends and remember you have unlimited invites under you "myFriends" link on the toolbar.

My wife, Danielle, and I went to the Doctors the other day and heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time so I guess its offical now.  The due date is May 6th which is 2 days before Danielle's.  Needless to say we are excited and of course i've begun that freaking out stage which starts with the fact that our 1 bedroom apartment is suddenly way to small

Well my employer finally convinced me that I need to take some certificaion exams so I went today and took(and passed) the CompTIA A+ IT Tech. exam.  CompTIA recently released their new exams and this one was very easy so anyone worrying about taking it ... don't.

 

I like numbers and statistics which is why I like to post these results.  Sorry if they bore anyone.  For the month of September, our very first month as a Social Network, we had a total of 130,000 hits from 628 unique visitors

This morning we surpassed 100,000 hits for the month which is a huge amount for a site only launched 22 days ago.  We have also seen a steady increase in the amount of unique users per day which is now above 100 a day and we have pushed about 5 gigs of data this month.  Continue to invite you friends and players so we can continue the growth on though the next month!  Alot of big changes will be moved over to the live site this week.  That includes updates to the PM system, Hopefully a fix to spell check, and Users Voting and Ranking on all content.  Thank you everyone who has submitted bug reports most of them will be fixed when the update is rolled over in the coming days.

Earlier this morning I recieved a call from my older brother, I was currently asleep at the time, trying to catch up after a week of hitting the sack at a regular 6am. One things for certain, not only was I pretty dazed and confused, but I was definitly -not- expecting a call from my brother. I rarely speak to him, so it was quite a shock to realise that not only had he called me, but was offering me a job to work for him at his bar in Bedford. Currently I live in a pretty stale 'has-been' city known as Peterborough, it was once a great place to live but now, like most other aged locations, has fallen to the ever-present ironfist of the chav. For those that don't know what a chav or chav culture is, theres an entry on Wikipedia about it.

I've pretty much lived in Peterborough my whole life while I've been in England, it's not the best of places to be quite honest, it holds quite a unique Tarentino quality about it that I really despise. It's gritty, dark, covered in litter, and generally holds the unfriendliest people someone will ever meet(although this -is- England we're talking about).

 I've been working as a graphical artist for a couple of years now, starting off as freelancer I let my income solely rely on commisions and word-of-mouth marketing, I'm not the biggest or best artist around, I admit, but it brought in some much needed cash in times of need. Earlier this year I was hired full-time by a company which produces small-time commerical graphical advertisments like signs, leaflets, flyers etc. Once again, it's not my dream job, but it pays, it's something that I can do and reasonably well at that. I needed something stable with a fixed income so I could miss the showers of 'Beans-on-Toast Thursdays'(and hopefully leave them behind forever).

Now though, when my brother offered me this job I really didn't know what to say. I had only just settled into my new flat after moving closer into the town centre, my deposit hadn't even been cashed. Now my brother wants me to move 50 odd miles to Bedford? It may of been because I was still half-asleep, trying to regulate my thoughts, that I simply confused myself... but would I really be good working in a bar? It's a big deal to me, I'm not the most social person ever, in fact, I -hate- the general public, I really do. A job which volentarily puts your neck on the chopping block is as good as a sweatshop to me. Customer service? Get lost. But in situations like this my optimism tends to rip back the curtains with a gung-ho roundhouse to the stitches - so, after talking with my brother a bit more, I decided I would give it a shot.

Yes, this post, apart from being on a personal level, is fairly pointless to post on its own, however in a way it's also a notion towards my iminent departure from MUDs for a while, maybe a long while. Theres no way I could work full-time and keep up my flow of productivity for Caius at SWC, it's simply unfair to even suggest I may be able to contribute. I'm a simple guy, trying to do two things at once is like juggling farting hippos in space vacuum to me, I doubt I'll even have an internet connection for a while anyway, let alone time to use it. That goes for this place too, even though it's still in Beta(I've said it a thousand times) this place has intense potential aslong as it's being kept in the air for all eyes to see. This will probably be my last sign of activity here for awhile until I manage to sort myself out, but I hope to try and check up to see how things are doing.
