Eldrick S Raicen :: Blog :: taking a step into the unknown...

September 05, 2007

That's it, I've had enough.

I'm finally breaking away from what I know (or rather, don't) and will be attempting to learn this thing called "see plus plus".  The main goal is to change all the extended bitvectors I use on my MUD to a bitset; it just seems more efficient.  If anyone has knowledge / experience with this and has the time to help me learn, I'd love the assistance.  Let me know!

Yes, my MUD currently compiles cleanly as a C++ program, even though nothing's written to utilize its power...

Keywords: bitset

  1. G'luck, man.. you're stepping widely into the unknown for me too, though you could probably take a bit of Samson's AFKMUD for examples of hwo to proceed with the endeavor.

  2. Yeah, Good Luck .... Samson would be the one to ask about this one as he converted his mud to c++ not to long ago.

  3. Actually the proper term is "converting" since it's still a very long way from actually being done. :)

std::bitset was one of the first things I did with AFKMud though. It's relatively easy to understand. Feel free to prod me on it, or drop by www.afkmud.com and post whatever questions you might have about it.
