Aindin :: Blog :: The Pains of a Writer.

November 10, 2007

It is a sad, but true affair to be afflicted with the burden of being the sole writer of a MUD. I have taken it upon myself to make real my own personal vision of an engrossing on-line experience for others around me. Utilizing the Mudmaker Tool (found at www.mudmaker.com), I have had easy access to a way to reach my goals with having absolutely no coding experience, as well as a place to host my finalized MUD. A one man army to build and populate a world, as well as test is a large task in and of itself, but the real challenge is in the actual art of it.

I am a writer at heart and have been finding that grinding out descriptions of locations has been a true strain of my abilities. I enjoy the challenge, but am realizing that it takes a long time and a lot of editing and re-editing to create a visual and entertaining experience for people

Bah! I am ranting almost to the point of incoherance, ahh well. Thank you for reading and, be sure to keep your eyes peeled on this blog for some upcoming info on my mud, or you can check out the official blog for my game at www.xanga.com/cityscapemud

  1. I think of us here have felt this way.  Many of us have started muds only to be the only productive staff member.  Having to wear the hats of Builders, Coder, and Admin.  I always found building the be the most challenging role.  Not only is it a timestaking tedious process it is at times incredibly boring. I don't know how some of the great mud builders have done it.
